adding an image to book cover

my friend recently commissioned a few hard copies of her favorite fanfic from me, and she asked me to put some pieces of fanart on the cover? which i've never done before!

i have a couple ideas on how i would go about doing it (my main idea right now is to print out the images relatively small, then laminate them, and cut out a window in my bookcloth and sew the laminated image in under the window) but i was wondering if there's, like, a proper way to go about doing this, haha.

i used the window idea and it worked out great! i forgot to take a picture before giving it to her, but what i did was;

- print, cut and laminate the art, cutting out the laminated piece with about half an inch of plastic around the edges to glue it to the bookcloth
- measure the picture then cut a window out of my bookcloth using the measurements and a craft knife
- use tacky glue to glue the laminated art in place
- put the chipboard down behind the art and used pva glue as usual

it seemed to be pretty securely glued in there.
 
Might not be the proper way, but it give it a unique vibe. Do you have any pics to showcase your work?
